I’ve since installed my mods for moving dalvik-cache and clearing mem.
I’ve also installed a ARM11 optimized build of OpenGL v1.4, ARM11 optimized build of JIT v8.12.
I also removed a few system apk’s which weren’t needed and disabled some startup services which weren’t needed.
Most recently I have installed a custom compiled kernel which has optimizations for ARM.

With all of those tweaks/mods I have a linpack score of 8.419MFLOPS.
This seems to be faster than the nexus one benchmark.

I recently got this game (£14) to try as so many people are raving about battlefield games (haven’t tried any of previous).

After playing it for a few days I think it’s pretty good and time flies by so quickly. There are quite a lot of bugs tho.
I had read about all the tweaks for sensitivity, FOV & FPS tweaks on various forums so spent a few mins implementing these tweaks. 2hours later (yes I was annoyed to say the least) my sensitivity/FOV was set correctly.
The problem is there are different variables for sensitivity depending on what you are doing. There is Infrantry, Stationary Vehicle, Jeep & Air Sensitivity (4 Cvars for 1 thing) so it’s near impossible to get them all set the same as they all differ.

Once I got online I thought it was pretty nice graphics wise.
I don’t like how new players have the lesser weapons putting them at a HUGE disadvantage.
The whole stats system seems to make people grind for points (much like MMORPGs) and boast about them. People don’t actually care much tbh, games are about having fun & the whole epeen thing is pointless (will probably bring in so many cheating kids aswell).

The game seemed ok until I got a sniper rifle out and aimed directly at people (even close range) and only about 40% of the hits would register as hits.

I found some more tweaks about setting interpolation based on latency (my ping to the servers I’m on is 15ms)

On setting this it seemed even worse but I tried it for a few nights and then put it back to how it was.
The whole hitreg thing reminds me of playing quake2 with a 28k modem as you have to aim in front of people to actually hit them.

This video was embedded using the YouTuber plugin by Roy Tanck. Adobe Flash Player is required to view the video.

There is a new patch coming out which supposedly fixes a lot of bugs but I’m not sure if it will fix the hitreg.
A lot of people who play BF2 say the hitreg in BF2 is a lot better so I guess there is hope.

Over the past few nights I’ve seen at least 30people kicked by punkbuster for cheating and have also seen people blatently botting with names like headtest and headshoot.

CSPromod 1.04 was released yesterday and already everyone is talking about it.
The previous version wasn’t quite worthy of a open beta release with people spawning inside walls and random bugs within the maps.

I remember trying out previous versions and thinking what a joke this was with all the bugs etc.
On trying 1.04 however I was surprised as it seems a lot more polished with some really nicely adapted maps which actually look pretty and a completely new HUD system.

After playing it for a few hours I was thinking it was pretty nice, after tweaking the cvars and recoding some of my scripts in my config I was away. There do seem to be a few bugs but it is still in BETA.

I haven’t played CS for ages (last time was before steam) but I’m pretty sure there was proper bunnyhopping involved and duckjumps (don’t seem to be on this mod) hopefully they will be adding this tho.

The thing which prompted me to look at this mod again was an email from ESL regarding a gather.

One really cool thing is that there is pop dog on train.

I’ve been running windows7 for a while now and thought it was about time I posted some tweaks.

Network Tweaks

Disable Flow Control
This is a pretty basic tweak, really has been used for ages.
Flow control allows a overloaded device to send a pause frame, this causes the device at the other end to stop sending packets temporarily.
The effect causes massive delays on large networks.

To disable flow control go into device manager and find your NIC, go onto properties and then you should see flow control on the Advanced tab, altho depending on the NIC and driver it could be in additional options.

Enable congestion provider Compound TCP (CTCP)
This is a new congestion provider developed by Microsoft as an attempt to resolve conflicts in providing the correct RWIN size.
*CTCP is enabled by default on Windows Server 2008
Enabling CTCP can improve network latency as the network Receive Window is important and has been a cause for concern for many years as bandwidth of internet connections has improved.
Enabling this is pretty easy on Windows7.

To enable CTCP you need to run a command prompt with admin privileges.
Start > All Programs > Accessories > Rt Click Command Prompt > Run As Administrator
In the command window type (or paste)

netsh interface tcp set global congestionprovider=ctcp

Set TCP Acknowledgment to 1
This is a new tweak and is documented on Microsoft Support

Subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\<Interface GUID>
Entry: TcpAckFrequency
Value Type: REG_DWORD, number
Valid Range: 0-255
Default: 2
Description: Specifies the number of ACKs that will be outstanding before the delayed ACK timer is ignored. Microsoft does not recommend changing the default value without careful study of the environment.

Setting this to 1 can improve network performance as every packet is acknowledged immediately because there is only one outstanding TCP ACK as a segment is just received.

Disable Nagle Algorithm
This is similar to the flow control tweak as it disables network packet delays.
Nagle algorithm tries to balance the data load of a packet by delaying the dispatching of packets.
When this is disabled TCP buffering is skipped so that every request is sent immediately.
*you may want to look at the environment of your network before applying this tweak

To change TCP Acknowledgment & Disable Nagle Algorithm:
Run regedit
Go to
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces"

Find the correct interface ID and select it
Create 2 32-bit DWORD keys

TcpAckFrequency
TCPNoDelay

Set the value of both to 1
*note you will need to find the correct inferface ID before changing these values
