I rebuilt my pc in the weekend and thought I’d take some pics with the i5700 just to test it out.
I have now replaced the Asus P5W DH with a Biostar TPower i45. Still working & testing clocking atm, only have it clocked to the same as the p5w but have clocked the RAM higher. The CPU is running at 3.2Ghz (as before) with the RAM on a 5:6 divider making the RAM 960Mhz.
I also have a nice new clean install of windows7 ultimate x64 now.
I have now started modding stuff on the i5700, it took a while to find the debug usb drivers for the i5700 but it’s all working now.
I have been messing around with the phone so much and being a linux user since 1998 I’m really interested in the stuff you can do on it. I’m just doing simple mods atm like replacing system apps. (I replaced the stock gallery with gallery3d today using ADB just as a test)
Will possibly be posting some coding stuff and tutorials but for now I’m just messing about and using the phone to learn, might be looking into setting up swap space onto the sdcard.
Also means I am able to take screenshots of the device.
I’ve finally got a android phone. After looking at the HTC Desire and the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 I decided to go for something cheaper which still has a fast CPU and also has support for Android 2.1 eclair.
I didn’t want to go on a expensive contract as it seemed that for the Desire & the X10 I needed to go onto a £30/m contract for 24months.
So I have now bought a Samsung Galaxy Portal i5700.
I’m really loving android so far and am actually finding it intuitive. (unlike WinMo which I hated)
I recently got this game (£14) to try as so many people are raving about battlefield games (haven’t tried any of previous).
After playing it for a few days I think it’s pretty good and time flies by so quickly. There are quite a lot of bugs tho. I had read about all the tweaks for sensitivity, FOV & FPS tweaks on various forums so spent a few mins implementing these tweaks. 2hours later (yes I was annoyed to say the least) my sensitivity/FOV was set correctly. The problem is there are different variables for sensitivity depending on what you are doing. There is Infrantry, Stationary Vehicle, Jeep & Air Sensitivity (4 Cvars for 1 thing) so it’s near impossible to get them all set the same as they all differ.
Once I got online I thought it was pretty nice graphics wise. I don’t like how new players have the lesser weapons putting them at a HUGE disadvantage. The whole stats system seems to make people grind for points (much like MMORPGs) and boast about them. People don’t actually care much tbh, games are about having fun & the whole epeen thing is pointless (will probably bring in so many cheating kids aswell).
The game seemed ok until I got a sniper rifle out and aimed directly at people (even close range) and only about 40% of the hits would register as hits.
I found some more tweaks about setting interpolation based on latency (my ping to the servers I’m on is 15ms)
On setting this it seemed even worse but I tried it for a few nights and then put it back to how it was. The whole hitreg thing reminds me of playing quake2 with a 28k modem as you have to aim in front of people to actually hit them.
There is a new patch coming out which supposedly fixes a lot of bugs but I’m not sure if it will fix the hitreg. A lot of people who play BF2 say the hitreg in BF2 is a lot better so I guess there is hope.
Over the past few nights I’ve seen at least 30people kicked by punkbuster for cheating and have also seen people blatently botting with names like headtest and headshoot.
