New Samsung i5700 Case

I got a new case for the phone today.

Seems to fit quite well and doesn’t look too bad.
I bought it to protect the sides of the phone and also the back as the back cover is quite thin, although that seems to be the norm at the moment with most new phones.

The case only cost £2 including postage.

Computer Rebuild & New Mobo

I rebuilt my pc in the weekend and thought I’d take some pics with the i5700 just to test it out.

I have now replaced the Asus P5W DH with a Biostar TPower i45.
Still working & testing clocking atm, only have it clocked to the same as the p5w but have clocked the RAM higher.
The CPU is running at 3.2Ghz (as before) with the RAM on a 5:6 divider making the RAM 960Mhz.

I also have a nice new clean install of windows7 ultimate x64 now.

Android SDK and ADB

I have now started modding stuff on the i5700, it took a while to find the debug usb drivers for the i5700 but it’s all working now.

I have been messing around with the phone so much and being a linux user since 1998 I’m really interested in the stuff you can do on it. I’m just doing simple mods atm like replacing system apps. (I replaced the stock gallery with gallery3d today using ADB just as a test)

Will possibly be posting some coding stuff and tutorials but for now I’m just messing about and using the phone to learn, might be looking into setting up swap space onto the sdcard.

Also means I am able to take screenshots of the device.

Eclair + Nexus One Launcher + Live Wallpaper + Gallery3D

I’ve now got the launcher from the nexus one on my i5700 and it seems a bit quicker than the stock samsung one.

I also have Live Wallpapers which look nice but seem to bring the battery down quicker.

Another cool addition is Gallery3D which has some really nice features and additions.

Finally got an Android phone

I’ve finally got a android phone.
After looking at the HTC Desire and the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 I decided to go for something cheaper which still has a fast CPU and also has support for Android 2.1 eclair.

I didn’t want to go on a expensive contract as it seemed that for the Desire & the X10 I needed to go onto a £30/m contract for 24months.

So I have now bought a Samsung Galaxy Portal i5700.

I’m really loving android so far and am actually finding it intuitive. (unlike WinMo which I hated)
