Computer Rebuild & New Mobo

I rebuilt my pc in the weekend and thought I’d take some pics with the i5700 just to test it out.

I have now replaced the Asus P5W DH with a Biostar TPower i45.
Still working & testing clocking atm, only have it clocked to the same as the p5w but have clocked the RAM higher.
The CPU is running at 3.2Ghz (as before) with the RAM on a 5:6 divider making the RAM 960Mhz.

I also have a nice new clean install of windows7 ultimate x64 now.

Ventrilo – Auto Volume

This is a guide I found a while ago (the site has since gone down).
Basically lets you setup ventrilo to auto adjust the volume so you don’t have to keep messing with people’s volumes.

Goto Setup > Enable Direct Sound
Click SFX > Select Compressor > Click Add
Select Properties

My Settings (see screenshot)
Gain: 14
Attack: 10.00
Release: 224
Threshold: -30
Ratio: 100.0
Pre Delay: 4.0

Windows 7 Network Tweaks

I’ve just posted a new page with a few network tweaks for windows 7.
A lot of them apply to windows server 2003/2008 aswell.

Network Tweaks

Disable Flow Control
Enable congestion provider Compound TCP (CTCP)
Set TCP Acknowledgment to 1
Disable Nagle Algorithm

Really loving this game so far.

Currently have a level19 vanquisher and she is amazing, have 2 guns and explosive shot.

I just got this game and it is a fantastic hack ‘n’ slash RPG (very similar to Diablo2).

It is developed by Runic Games who are ex diablo developers who broke away from Blizzard.
They are currently developing a MMORPG based on the world of torchlight and from playing Torchlight a MMO could be really good.
The game is so easy to get into and has a excellent skill/leveling system.
As you get further into it you get into massive fights with masses of enemies at the same time.
This is excellent for anyone who is waiting for Diablo3 to be released.
It is also very cheap at £14.99 on steam.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 last week and am really liking it.
It just seems to be so much smoother than vista and looks nice with the few extra touches.
The keyboard shorcuts are quite nice aswell.

A lot of the new features are reminiscent of OSX which isn’t that surprising.
